John Walters, Drug Czar
Pete Guither at Drug War Rant pointed out that the drug czar held an on-line chat Monday. The chat can be read here. The entire thing is basically a load of crap, but my favorite bit is this exchange:
"Edwin, from Washington, D.C. writes:
What is the most challenging aspect of trying to eliminate drug-trafficking?
John P. Walters
In the last few years we have really made an effort to analyze drug production and trafficking through a business model. Anyone who runs a company...knows that there are market forces that can hurt the bottom line....We are having better success than at any previous time...."
Yes, and anyone who runs a company knows that if they've been producing a horrible product for the last 30 years that costs millions of dollars of year to make and is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, but results in zero net gains to the company or to society, they should probably stop producing said product. If the government is so keen on running the drug war based on a business model, it's time for them to admit that it's a sucky product and should be taken off the shelves immediately.
